General Visa Application Process Information

The Embassy will not consider any documents sent via mail or fax. Applicants need to have a complete packet of documents when coming to the visa section (including checklist).

1. You may only submit your application to the visa section upon prior scheduled appointment which can be done:

  • Over the telephone: +6221 5140 1585 or +6221 5140 2552, 08:30 to 16:30 Monday through Friday
  • Website www.vfs-fr-id.com

2. Submission hours of the visa section are

Travel Agents : 8.30-10.30, Monday to Thursday (upon appointment).

Individual : 8.30 - 12.00, Monday to Thursday and 8.30-11.00 on Friday (upon appointment).

3. Collection time : 12.00 - 13.00, Monday to Friday.

4. Short term Schengen visa application process takes 10 (ten) working days from the submission date.

5. Visa application processing time to the Overseas territories is up to 15 (fifteen) working days due to interviews required.

6. Long term visitor visa application process takes 2 (two) months from the submission date.

Visa Section staff has the right to request additional documents. For those who are not citizens of Indonesia visa processing time may be longer due to additional interviews being required.You may contact the French Embassy at +6221 23557600 (between 08.30 - 13.00 Monday to Friday). You may come to the Embassy collect your passport after 10 (ten) working days from the submission date between 12.00 - 13.00 Monday to Friday

Due to the Schengen rules, the reasons for short term visa refusal are not being stated.

7. Starting 1st January 2003, based on the European Union Council decision, the fee for issuing a visa is substituted with the fee for considering the application, which is paid at the moment the application is launched. In case of refusal, the fee is not refundable.

Attention

Starting July the 1st 2006, the visa fee is paid in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) only at The Embassy.

Note : The Embassy might change the exchange rates every 15 days.

8. Official and diplomatic passport holders, spouses & children of European Union nationals (married certificate and a copy of passport of your EU partner required) and students receiving scholarship from the French government (proof of scholarship required) are exempt from visa fee.

No appointment needed for the above applicants, please come directly to the Embassy between 08.30 - 12.00 on Monday to Thursday and 08.30 - 11.00 on Friday.

9. For those who are not citizens of Indonesia, nor a KITAS / KIMS holder and never had a Schengen visa before, you must come to The Embassy in person to submit your visa applications (with prior appointment).

10. Visa “De Retour” applicants must come to The Embassy in person (with prior appointment)
